Investing In Better Construction

When I started working on renovating my home, I knew that I needed to do something in order to make sure things were done according to code. Even though I had previously committed myself to doing all of the work on my own, I knew that it wasn't in my home's best interest to try my hand at things I wasn't familiar with. I began searching for professional contractors, and I was able to find an expert that really understood the intricacies of well-done construction. He worked hard to make my home beautiful, safe, and valuable. This blog is here to help people to invest in better construction.

2 Reasons Every Business Should Have A Warehouse Pick Up Area

If you own a company that specializes in business-to-business sales, you might be focused on bringing in better products, reducing your shipping costs, and improving your customer service. Although overhauling your website or hiring a better customer support team might seem like the way to go, you might be able to turn the tables in your favor by doing something as simple as offering a warehouse pick up option. Warehouse pick up, also commonly referred to as "will call," gives customers the chance to drive to your physical location to retrieve their order instead of ordering online and waiting for that delivery. Here are two reasons every business should offer warehouse pick up:

1. Allows Customers to See and Feel Products

When customers have the option of visiting your warehouse in person, it presents a powerful sales opportunity for your business. Will call areas are the perfect place to create a mini showroom for your most popular products, giving consumers the chance to see and feel products with their own hands.

Also, since will call employees are on hand to answer questions about products, it gives them the chance to develop important, trusting relationships with clients. For example, your employees can talk with clients about new services or different materials, giving each employee the chance to get to know key customers. As an added bonus, customers walk away knowing the name of an employee and feeling like they are a valued customer.

If you want to display new items in your will call area, make sure to add invoicing or point of sales capabilities to the area, in case customers want to add on to their order. Place key items near the register along with displayed prices, allowing walk-in clients the chance to browse merchandise without asking about costs. You might be surprised to find how many extra products you can sell just by merchandising your will call office.

2. Boosts Your Revenue

These days, a lot of people won't order products online unless there is a free shipping option, which can drive your costs into the ground—especially on smaller orders. In fact, one recent study showed that 66% of online customers consider free shipping to be a "very important" factor that determines whether or not they choose to order.

Fortunately, warehouse pick up is a great way to offer "free shipping" to customers without absorbing the costs. Instead of paying for postage and worrying about bubble wrap and packing paper, you can simply gather the ordered items together in a box and label the order at the will-call desk—saving boatloads of money in the long run.

Also, because free shipping reduces costs for consumers, your customers will spend more on products. According to one recent study, people who receive free shipping tend to spend an average of 10% more on their orders—which is why free shipping could boost your sales. Consider your own online shopping habits. If you fill your online cart with $50 worth of products and then you find out that shipping is free, wouldn't you be tempted to add a few more things to your basket? Offering warehouse pick up is a great way to sell more items without increasing your own expenses.

If you are interested in offering warehouse pick up, meet with your staff to talk about how to create a will call area. Discuss the different products that customers might be interested in seeing and feeling in person, and make thoughtful choices regarding the employees who will man the will call desk. By giving customers the option of visiting your warehouse in person, you will do more than reduce their shipping costs—you will be giving them a dose of your company culture.
